It’s been about 3 weeks since I’ve been off any type of creatine supplement, which I normally take post workout. Of course some pre workout supplements I take also contain some form of creatine but my focus for creatine tends to be post workout as I believe that’s the time when creatine is most effective. I’ve got about half of a tub of Universal Nutrition Storm left so I’m throwing Storm back into my supplement regimen. Having not taken creatine post workout for the past few weeks I did notice that my strength went down a little in a couple of my major lifts. I’m hoping after this week of adding creatine back in post workout my strength will boost back up. I’m training light this week with a little less intensity. If you read yesterday’s blog you know that I was fighting flu symptoms all weekend which sucked! But I did manage to get in a light back workout yesterday and I hit chest today this morning using lighter weights and less intensity. So I’m feeling better now but don’t want to overdo it quite yet. Got a little off track there, so let’s get back to my supplement plan!
My supplement plan hasn’t changed much other than adding Universal Storm back into my post workout supplements. One other thing is I ran out of Universal Animal Rage and just picked up a tub of Nutrex Hemo Rage Black (ultra-concentrated). I’ve been going back and forth between these two pre workout supplements but I’m just going to stick with Hemo Rage for a while. The folks at Southern Muscle here in Brandon, FL usually load me up with samples so I have a few pre workout samples I’ll throw in here and there as well. Here’s the current plan:
Jason’s Current Supplement Plan:
Dymatize Elite Whey Protein – 1 scoop pre workout, 2 scoops with milk and a banana post workout (same at about 3:30 PM) and 2 scoops with milk before bed
Nutrex Hemo Rage Black – pre workout
Universal Nutrition Storm – with post workout shake (not mixed in the shake, but I take it right before my shake)
Universal Nutrition Animal Pak – post workout
Fish Oil – 5000 mg per day (2 capsules in the morning and another 2 at night)
A note on Universal Storm: I’ve always taken Storm immediate post workout along with my BCAA supplements. However, this time I’m taking Storm with my post workout protein shake when I get home from the gym. I believe mixing the Storm (creatine and arginine) with the BCAAs was upsetting my stomach pretty bad. Since I’ve been taken Storm with post workout shake I haven’t experienced any of these problems. One more note on my protein shakes, and this is geared more towards nutrition in general than supplements, is that I’m no longer adding peanut butter to my shakes. I want to cut out some dietary fats as even too many healthy fats make me, well, fat!
