Jason’s 400 Rep Leg Press Workout
I’ts hump day for most people but for many of us, Wednesday is leg day. Today we started out doing 400 total reps on leg press. Needless to say this was the bulk of the workout. The rest of the exercises were 4-5 straight sets of controlled reps. The idea for leg day is always high volume workouts. 400 reps may seem overboard but we did this in phases, which I”ll explain below.
Leg Press: 400 total reps * (see below)
Lying Leg Curls: 5 sets x 12 reps
Leg Extensions: 4 sets x 12 reps
Standing Leg Curls: 4 sets x 12 reps
Outer Abductor Machine: 4 sets x 15 reps
* We did these in 4 phases of 100 reps each. Each 100-rep phase consisted of 5-6 sets. We only rested for the amount of time it took for the other to finish the set so it was quick. Once we hit 100 reps we’d take about a 2 minute rest. We picked a weight that we could do about 30 reps the first set (3 plates on each side). For the 4th 100-rep phase we threw on another plate on each side.
This 400 rep leg press workout is now in my elite category of leg workouts. You feel every muscle fiber in your legs with this many reps. Note this isn’t a typical leg workout for me and I will probably do this, or something similar about every 6-8 weeks. It’s certainly worth trying if you’re looking a new leg workout.
