Happy Monday and welcome to my 2nd week’s post for my new Mass Monday series! I actually look forward to Mondays. I typically don’t train on the weekends (or if I do, it’s a very light session). And I typically eat more food and my diet is a bit more relaxed on the weekends. So by the time Monday mornings rolls around, I’m ready for the gym.
This week’s Mass Monday will cover my leg workout from last week, which was brutal. I’ll talk briefly about my last night’s meal, which was fuel for this morning. And I’ll also go over my latest supplement review on I did last week.
This morning was my usual back workout. I hit four exercises (four sets each). I also trained a little biceps at the end. My schedule is going to be a little off this week due to some end of the week events I have going on. So I may only be training three days this week.
I want to highlight last week’s leg workout as I did not get a chance to post it. I believe it’s worthy of posting. Try it, and I’m certain you will agree!
Last Week’s Brutal Leg Workout
5 sets x 15-20 reps
5 sets x 12-15 reps
Leg Press (close-stance):
5 sets x 12 reps
4 sets x 10 reps
Leg Extensions (single-leg):
5 sets x 15 reps
Seated Leg Curls:
4 sets x 12 reps *
Lying Leg Curls:
4 sets x 12 reps *
* Dropset on final set
As you can see, there’s a lot of volume for this leg workout. I must mentioned I didn’t rest much between most sets. I’ve become a huge fan of high volume leg workouts. Volume for legs simply means growth.
We typically stay in on Sunday evenings and cook dinner. This is also the time I will prepare my lunches for the first few days of the week. But last night we took her folks to one of our favorite mom-and-pop restaurants, Jessie’s Steak and Seafood in Brandon, FL.
I had one of my all-time favorite meals. Steak and a sweet potato. I normally get their sirloin but I had the NY strip last night. I always feel great after this meal and it gives me the energy I need the next morning to train hard. For me, it’s the perfect source of protein and carbs.
Last week I posted a supplement review on a pre-workout that I’ve been taking for the past month or so. It’s actually something that’s been around for a while but it the formula was recently revised. It’s the new Hemo Rage from Nutrex.
In short, this stuff works just like the prior version, which was great. At the point of writing this I’m taking something else but I plan to buy another canister of the new Hemo Rage soon. You can read my full review and watch my video review for the new Hemo Rage here.
That wraps it up for this week’s Mass Monday series. Hope you have a great week and train hard this week!
