Mass Monday 11-21-2016

Alright, I’m starting my Mass Monday series up again. These posts will include tips on getting bigger and stronger. I’ll also be including some of my personal workouts, meals for gaining clean mass, and updates.

Wintertime = Mass Season

I got to the gym at my usual time, which is around 4:45AM. I checked the temperature and it was 39 degrees. To some of you that’s nothing. But to Floridians like myself, 39 is cold!

There’s something about wintertime that makes you want to get big. I’m sure part of it is we know we’ll be wearing more clothes so maybe we can afford to gain a little weight for the sake of getting bigger and stronger. There’s no need in having a six pack if you’re not going to take your shirt off. Or perhaps it’s simply our body’s instinct for preservation.

In any case, may consider the cooler weather mass season. I actually wrote an instrumental metal song called Mass Season on my album Heavy Metal Workout. Some of you know I’m a small-time recording artist of the metal genre.

Thanksgiving Mass Meal

Speaking of mass season, we have Thanksgiving coming up this week. So if you haven’t bought your turkey, do it today! These things run out quickly.

I love Thanksgiving, and this time of year in general. But I especially love turkey. I prefer turkey over chicken any day. It’s a great source of protein. Not to mention there’s usually Thanksgiving leftovers for several days. Here’s what’s on my Thanksgiving dinner list:

Jason’s Thanksgiving Dinner

  • Turkey
  • Dressing
  • Sweet potato pie
  • Green bean casserole
  • Cranberries
  • Pumpkin pie
  • Possibly Thai food (my wife is and mother-in-law are Thai)

Mass Monday Back Workout

Many of you that I start out the week by training back first-thing Monday morning. In fact, back is my favorite muscle to train. Being the biggest muscle in your upper body, it requires for volume. Here’s this morning’s back workout:

Back Workout

  • Deadlifts
    • 4 x 8, 8, 5, 1
  • Lat Pulldowns
    • 4 x 12, 10, 10, 8
  • Reverse Grip Lat Pulldowns
    • 4 x 15
  • Plate-Loaded Rows
    • 4 x 8, 1 x 21
  • Cable Pullovers
    • 3 x 12
