Let’s face it, multi-vitamin supplements aren’t that exciting. However, they are a necessity. Even if you’re not into weight training or athletics, multi-vitamins are still essential for your health.
And if you are into weightlifting, bodybuilding, strength training or any type of athletics, then multi-vitamins are, or should be a must in your supplement regimen. This us to my Opti-Men review.
For those of us who lift weights and live an active lifestyle, there are multi-vitamins supplements that are advanced with extra ingredients beyond your standard vitamins and minerals. Opti-Men from Optimum Nutrition is one of those powerful multi-vitamins. And if you’re on a consistent workout program, you need a solid multi.
Optimum Nutrition’s Opti-Men isn’t advertised as a hardcore supplement and doesn’t come with a fancy label. But in my opinion and experience, it ranks right up there with the other supplements in the multi-vitamin-plus supplement category.
Opti-Men is a multi-vitamin supplement by Optimum Nutrition. It’s advertised to be more than just a multi-vitamin. You get the full 25 vitamins and minerals in this supplement but you also get five blends with various performance and health benefits.
♦ Amino-Blend – Comprised of free-form amino acids including BCCAs, glutamine, and arginine. These amino acids are essential for muscle growth and recovery.
♦ Viri-Blend – Consists of eight botanical and marine concentrates that are known to enhance male performance.
♦ Phyto-Blend – Antioxidant blend fortified with fruit and vegetable concentrates.
♦ Enzy-Blend – Enzymes to help with digestion and absorption of nutrients.
♦ Opti-Blend – 25 vitamins and minerals with an emphasis on B-vitamins and antioxidants.
The label instructs you to take three capsules per day with food. When I first started taking Opti-Men from Optimum Nutrition, I took four capsules twice per day. After a few weeks I started taking three Opti-Men vitamins with my post workout shake in the mornings. I my non-training days I took it with breakfast.
It’s important to note that I got the Opti-Men bottle that contains 60 servings. The price for this Opti-Men size is less than most other ‘hardcore multi-vitamins’ that only give you 20-30 servings.
I’ve said this before but multi-vitamin supplements aren’t something I expect to feel as if it were a pre workout supplement. It’s also not something I expect to gain immediate strength or muscle growth from as if it were creatine or a testosterone booster. Multi-vitamins are for overall health, supporting deficiencies, boosting your immune system, and helping you recover.
The benefits of multi-vitamins are more long-term and have a cumulative effect over time. All that being said, I do feel more energetic, I have more mental focus, and have a better sense of well-being when I’m taking Opti-Men (which is the same effects I get from any quality multi-vitamin). In my Opti-Men review I’ve found that this is just as good as any other high end performance based vitamin.
Opti-Men Review Pros:
Opti-Men is a high quality yet inexpensive means of getting your daily vitamins and minerals, not to mention all of the additional blends in Opti-Men geared towards performance, recovery, and building up your immune system.
The price is also a highlight here as stated above. Opti-Men has just as much, if not more essentials than it’s competitors yet you get double the quantity for the price you would pay for these competitors’ brands.
Opti-Men Review Cons:
Some may want the added ingredients other training packs offer.
I actually did some comparing of labels in this Opti-Men review with a few other advanced multi-vitamin supplements. Basically, you get all of your essential vitamins and minerals, and more for about half the price you’d pay for most other multi-vitamin brands that are geared towards strength trainers, bodybuilders and athletes.
I’m not knocking the other brands; there are some great multi-vitamin supplements out there. But in my opinion, I don’t see Opti-Men being a lesser of a supplement than these. You get more bang for your buck with Opti-Men. After doing this comparison, I ordered another bottle. It’s definitely worth adding to your supplement plan.
