
There are indeed a few great muscle building supplements on the market. Unfortunately, there's also a lot of (and more of) crap out there. It's easy to get overwhelmed by the vast supply of nutritional supplements and it's difficult to know which supplements work and which ones don't. Muscle building supplements arent cheap and neither are fat burning and energy boosting supplements. How many times have you spent $50 on a bottle of something only to look the same a month later?
There's also the fact that not everyone will respond the same to certain supplements, so a little trial and error is required. I will say this, most supplements that actually work and are proven to work are basic 'no frills' supplements. A lot of products have fancy labels, spiffy advertisements, overpriced only to delude with outrageous claims.

With muscle building supplements and fat burning supplements, its always important to read and follow the label, but even more so its imperative to do some research on the substances you're putting into your body. Many supplements contain a combination of ingredients or propriety blends. You will save yourself a lot of frustration by doing the research and knowing what you're taking, not to mention money. Some supplement companies are notorious for making outrageous claims and throwing in a long list of ingredients you've probably never heard of. This can sometimes be deceiving. Also, a quick rant of propriety blends; not all blends will list the amounts of each supplement within the blend, just the amount of the combined blend (ex: Propriety blend may be 5,000 mg with glutamine, citrulline malate, BCAA's, creatine and possibly a few others but will not list the amount of each individual supplement). Be leery of this especially if the product isn't from a reputable supplement company. On this note it's often hard to know which supplements work. This is not to say all supplements with propriety blends are bad. However, that being said some prefer to just take individual supplements. Check out my genuine supplement reviews here.
The above applies mainly to muscle building supplements but the same concept goes for fat loss supplements (or energy boosting supplements). These you must be especially careful with because some people have harsh side effects to certain stimulants.

This should be a no-brainer, but in no way do supplements replace or make up for proper nutrition and intense training. If those two aren't in check, then you'll only be wasting your money on muscle building supplements and fat burning supplements.
