Big Mike’s Superset Leg Workout

This morning’s leg workout was indeed quite brutal. This is the one training day that I have a workout partner (Big Mike) and we feed off each other’s desire to annihilate our quads, glutes, and hams every Wednesday. And this morning we did exactly that. One of the things that keeps our lower body growing is we switch up the workout techniques we use almost every week. And we also take turns picking the type of punishment we will endure on leg day.

High volume for all of our leg workouts is expected and today the technique Big Mike picked was supersets for legs. Of course we went through the usual warm up sets with leg extensions and leg curls followed by a couple of warm up sets of leg press. After that it was time to dive into the meat and potatoes of the leg workout.

Big Mike’s Superset Leg Workout

Lying Leg Curls: 4 sets x 20 reps

– superset with

Leg Extensions: 4 sets x 12 reps

Machine Squats: 5 sets x 12 reps

– superset with

Leg Press: 5 sets x 12 reps

Hack Squats: 4 sets x 12 reps

– superset with

Walking Lunges: 4 sets x 10 reps (each leg)

Leg Extensions: 4 sets x 15-20 reps (one leg)

Standing Leg Curls: 4 sets x 12 reps

We hit 5 sets of standing calve raises after that. The leg exercises for leg day don’t change much but as stated above, the techniques change (as you can see if you go through my Blog for ‘Leg Workouts’). Make sure you’re mentally prepared and 100% focused before trying this leg workout. I must also mention that we didn’t take long rest periods between the non-supersets. You won’t be doing a ton of weight during this type of leg workout but my legs have grown more from high reps and high volume workouts than going super heavy.
