First Workout of the New Year 2013
It’s January 1st, 2013 and I was excited to get up and hit the gym for the first time in 2013. We all make resolutions but weight training is something we love to do, so there’s no need for any resolutions in the workout department for people like us. I started a new workout routine this week, which I’ll probably post towards to the end of the week. Today was chest and biceps, so here’s the workout.
Jason’s First 2013 Workout
Incline Barbell Press: 4 sets x 10-12 reps
Hammer Strength Incline Press: 4 rest-pause sets x 10-6-4 reps *
Incline Dumbbell Flyes: 4 sets x 12 reps
Smith Machine Bench Press: 4 sets x 12-15 reps
Alternate Dumbbell Curls: 3 sets x 10 reps
Incline Dumbbell Curls: 3 sets x 10 reps
Preacher Curls: 3 sets x 12-15 reps with triple drop set on final set
* The rest-pause sets were done by performing a set of 10-12 reps followed by a 7 second rest and doing another set with the same weight, then I repeated this once more. This has proven to be a very effective weightlifting technique for me and I’ve been using this a few times a week with one exercise for various muscle groups. I get a tremendous pump from this training technique.
I also hit some calves at the end followed by an interval cardio session on the stationary bike. Felt good to train on New Years Day. As I do every morning after my workouts, I thank God for this ability to train.
Happy New Year everyone!
